trademark and copyright attorneys for a global marketplace

About Us

Grant LaSalle LLC was formed with one central goal: help our clients succeed by leveraging our extensive experience and global focus to provide effective and creative trademark and copyright solutions. In our nearly four decades between us, we have represented iconic brands, and companies from start-ups to Fortune 50. Together, we have counseled clients on matters covering the entire gamut of trademark, trade secret, unfair competition, copyright law and domain name disputes, as well as business transactions, regulatory matters, litigation and much more. We bring this broad experience to every engagement, helping us identify potential issues and find solutions to advance our clients' overall goals. Without question, our greatest asset is our global approach. From living abroad, to representing numerous foreign clients, to more than 15 years of representing domestic clients in connection with trademark and copyright matters around the world, we have a unique appreciation of the complexities of the global marketplace, particularly in countries within Asia, Europe and Latin America. As a result, we have established relationships with highly competent and sophisticated foreign counsel in numerous countries. These attorneys not only assist with searches, filings, enforcement and litigation, but help keep us apprised of intellectual property developments in their respective countries. In the current world trade environment, these relationships are invaluable, and allow us to help our clients proactively approach the evolving landscape. Beginning to end, for us, it truly is all about the client. From a graduated fee structure that minimizes the cost of less complex tasks, to employee training and optimization of a client's IP processes to minimize inefficient use of outside counsel, we put our clients first and measure our success on theirs.

our services

Trademark Clearance SEARCH AND OPINION

The first step in the trademark process. Through trademark searches, we can advise you on the availability and strength of your proposed trademark, as well as potential risks and liabilities from using the proposed mark, such as the risk of infringement. In this way, we can help you make an informed decision on whether to proceed with the proposed trademark early on, before you’ve spent significant money on the brand. Trademark registration AND MAINTENANCE

Whether in the United States or internationally utilizing our network of foreign counsel, we can help you register your trademarks and obtain the benefits that come with registration. From preparing your trademark application and advising you on the appropriate classes to claim, to responding to office actions, to making necessary filings after your mark has been registered, we can serve you at every point in the process. We are also available to recommend and secure domain names and social media names. Click here for more information.

TRADEMARK Enforcement and Infringement Management

In today’s global marketplace, trademarks are increasingly at risk from cybersquatting, counterfeits, false advertisement, unfair competition, dilution and ever-expanding infringement practices. We have nearly 20 years’ experience fighting trademark infringement around the world and in cyberspace, and offer wide-ranging services to help protect your valuable trademarks, including Customs enforcement and UDRP domain name dispute arbitration. Copyright REGISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT

Copyrights are an important part of a company’s intellectual property portfolio. We are experienced with a wide range of copyright matters involving consumer goods and entertainment brands. We bring that experience to bear in every engagement, whether we are advising you on a filing strategy, simple copyright applications, recording rights abroad, or acting to enforce your rights, such as through Customs enforcement or Digital Millennium Copyright Act complaints.

Trade Secret Protection

One of the most significant, though often overlooked, intellectual property assets a company has is its trade secrets – its valuable business information that is valuable because it is secret. Whether it’s a formula, supplier, manufacturing process, source for materials, software program, customer list or new products or service in development, maintaining your trade secrets can be critical to the success of your company. We can help you identify the business information that qualifies as trade secrets, and then help you establish procedures to maintain their secrecy, including advising you on trade secret misappropriation litigation if necessary.

Licensing, Business Agreements and Transactions

If you are seeking to commercialize your intellectual property, or acquire other intellectual property, we can help you develop your strategy and implement it. Among other things, we are experienced in drafting and reviewing agreements, such as licensing and non-disclosure agreements. We can review your advertising or other program materials. And, if a business transaction is involved, we can evaluate the portfolio at issue and advise you on the rights and risks involved.

Portfolio management

Maintaining a trademark and copyright portfolio can be a time-consuming venture, with potentially serious consequences if it is not done properly. We can handle it for you. We can docket your registrations to keep track of impending deadlines, as well as arrange to have your trademarks monitored for new applications or registrations that may impact your rights, and help you stay on top of your portfolio.
